Recent Problems in Ridgid 25648 Wet/Dry Vacuum

12 gall. wet/dry shop vac when plugged in ,makes noise and smokes. Very rarely used, owned one year.
Do I need to change motor or is it something else?

water shoots out back of vacume.doesn,t fill to 4 gallons

only works for a few seconds then stops sucking
my ridgid wet/dry vac is great for sucking up water off my flooded floor.... for a few seconds. then it stops sucki...
